12 Secrets of deep space

 12 Secrets of deep space

There is nothing about air and living things in space. There is a constant feeling of sinking in space. There are also unexplained phenomena of the dark void, which has no end. Here are some of the still unexplained secrets of deep space...

Space exploration

1. 1991 VG

The American astronomer James Scotti noticed something interesting in the sky in 1991. Having checked his first observations, Scotti determined where the interesting object he had seen would appear again, and turned his telescope in that direction. The result of his calculations with

standard assumptions seemed to be incorrect. Whatever it was that Scotti discovered, it was unlike any celestial body known for speed and direction.

Scotti then accidentally saw the object again. He noticed that the strange object was circling around the Sun. It was constantly deviating from its orbit due to the gravity of the Earth and the Sun.

The only logical explanation for the object that Scotti saw is that it was a satellite that was likely sent into space during the Cold War Period. But it was found that the previous date of convergence of the strange body to Earth was the year 1973. According to this determination, there was no possibility that the object was a satellite or spacecraft with a possibility of dating back to the Cold War Era.

What Scotti found is unknown even today

Black hole

2. Tourist black hole

Black holes are the last things you want to encounter in space. The strangest of the black holes that engulf everything around it is a tourist black hole that seems to be flying through space, and the reason why this black hole is in motion is a big secret.

in 2012, NASA detected a giant black hole emerging from its own galaxy. Moving at a speed of several million kilometers per hour, the black hole had a mass millions of times larger than the Sun.

There are several theories explaining why the black hole is in motion. One of them is the following: as a result of the merger of two galaxies with a black hole at their center, a giant war Dec between black holes. As a result of this battle, one of the black holes was doomed to escape under the influence of a gravity wave.

Another theory explaining this black hole is that as a result of the collision of three different black holes, the brightest one begins to move away...

Although the available data support the theory of weight waves, there is nothing proven yet.

Supernova Explosion

3. ASASSN-15lh

The biggest explosions that humans can witness are undoubtedly supernovas. The super-bright supernova ASASSN-15lh was first detected in June 2015. According to the data obtained, ASASSN-15lh was 2.8 billion light-years away. In other words, the ASASSN-15lh supernova took place 2.8 billion years ago.

What makes ASASSN-15lh special is that scientists can't explain the supernova. ASASSN-15lh was ten times brighter and much more powerful than average supernovae. Scientists examining the light emitted from ASASSN-15lh could not find the hydrogen matter that should normally exist. Therefore, the most plausible explanation for ASASSN-15lh was that it was a magnetar, a type of neutron star.

However, the investigations revealed that the energy emitted from ASASSN-15lh is much higher than that of the magnetar star. Months after the explosion of ASASSN-15lh, it continued to give off much more energy than even the Milky Way Galaxy.

In the case of a supernova, first a very bright light is emitted and after a while the light begins to weaken. This was also the case for the ASASSN-15lh, though it saw a drastic increase in the ultraviolet light it emits.

ASASSN-15lh did not show the known features of the supernova. Even today, scientists cannot explain ASASSN-15lh.

Deep space

4. KIC 8462852

Planets outside the Solar System can be detected by the amount of light emitted by the stars. When an orbiting planet passes in front of its star, the star's light is slightly weakened. In the meantime, planet detection can be made. Planets thought to be Earth-like are also discovered this way. But telescopes sometimes also make observations that are extremely difficult to explain.

The star KIC 8462852 is in the constellation Cygnus, about 1400 light-years from Earth. What made the star KIC 8462852 different from the others was that the power of the light it gave off was reduced by 20 percent from time to time. One explanation for the reduced power of the light was the comet cloud passing in front of the star. But more interesting theories have been put forward.

In 1960, physicist Freeman Dyson proposed a theory that the alien civilization surrounded the star in the form of a sphere, thus collecting energy from the star, and he named this theory the Dyson Sphere. According to the Dyson Sphere theory, the star, which is the main element of the star system, was surrounded by a spherical network and the energy emitted by the star could be collected in this way.

It has been suggested that the star KIC 8462852 is also surrounded by some kind of Dyson Sphere. It does not seem possible to make the Dyson Sphere with today's technology. If there is an alien civilization that can build a giant structure like the Dyson Sphere, they must have much more advanced technologies than us humans.

Radio telescope

5. Wow signal

In 1963, Ohio State University built the Big Ear radio telescope to listen to broadband radio waves emitted by the stars. The telescope was introduced in 1973 for SETI, the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Programme.

In August 1977, astronomer Jerry Ehman was checking the signals Big Ear had captured the day before and detected an interesting signal formed by the letters '6EQUJ5'. The 1420 megahertz signal, which was detected to come from the Sagittarius constellation, was recorded as the 'Wow' signal.

After the discovery of the Wow signal, Ehman and others repeatedly searched for similar signals, but the signal never reappeared.

Galaxy

6. The Big Attractor

The Great Attractor is a very massive structure that moves at 2.2 million kilometers per hour and pulls the Milky Way Galaxy and other galaxies into a specific region of space. What exactly is the Great Attractor is an unexplained deep space mystery.

The Great Attractor resides in a part of space called the Evasion Zone. But it is impossible to escape from it. The presence of previously undiscovered galaxies has been detected in the area of the Great Attractor.

Dark energy

7. Dark Energy

The Hubble Space Telescope discovered in 1998 that the universe is expanding faster than in the past. After the discovery, NASA and scientists tried to understand the reason for the expansion. One of the theories put forward as the explanation for the expansion was a strange energy fluid filling space. Although the energy fluid theory has not been refuted or proven, this phenomenon has been called 'Dark Energy'.

What was Dark Energy? This question has no answer. The only thing known about Dark Energy is that it is more than light. According to NASA, about 68 percent of the universe is made up of Dark Energy.

The Cosmological Constant, part of Albert Einstein's Theory of Relativity, explained the filling of empty space with its own energy. According to the theory, this energy produced by space was constantly expanding and creating more spaces. But the question of how space generates its own energy has never been answered.

Universe

8. How will the universe perish?

Both the Earth and the Sun will one day taste death. But both celestial bodies have 6 billion years to die. So you can continue to work, pay your bills and worry less.

So how will the universe perish? According to some scientists, heat will bring the end of the universe. According to this theory, the temperature between different objects in the universe will be zero and the entire system, which operates under normal conditions, will stop working due to the temperature difference. So the universe will commit suicide. The temperature in the universe will be -273.15 C.

Another claim about how the universe will perish is the Great Crash. According to this theory, the universe will reach the maximum limit at which it can expand, and then it will begin to collapse.

Another theory is the Great Change. According to this theory, Dark Energy will begin to consume the universe and the universe will turn into the molecular level. The shrinking universe will become the point where even atoms cannot exist.

According to the Giant Death Theory, Dark Energy will expand, become more massive and tear galaxies apart.

Gamma-ray

9. Gamma-ray burst

Gamma-ray burst is an extremely rare celestial event. It describes extremely gigantic, long bursts of energy. The gamma-ray burst of GRB 130427A, last detected in 2013, lasted 20 hours. Not much is known about Gamma-ray bursts, as they are rare celestial events.

It is unknown what a gamma-ray burst is and how it occurs. NASA explains that the Gamma-ray burst is caused by the conversion of low-energy Gamma rays scattered into space into high-energy rays. But NASA's explanation has not yet been proven.

According to a 2014 study, the Earth was affected by the Gamma-ray burst that caused the mass extinction.

Galaxy

10. Eridanus Supervoid

Eridanus Supervoid was discovered during Cosmic microwave background radiation research. Examining the data in the direction of the Eridanus constellation, scientists discovered that there was a cold void.

This structure was named Eridanus Supervoid after observations of the void. There was nothing in the huge void area. The age of the void was equivalent to 1 billion light years. In other words, it was possible to travel from one end of the vacuum to the other in 1 billion years at the speed of light.

Scientists trying to explain Eridanus Supervoid have put forward some theories. The most common of these theories was that Eridanus Supervoid was a giant black hole.

Although some scientists consider Eridanus Supervoid a parallel universe, what actually happened remains a mystery.

Star

11. Zombie stars

In August 2014, NASA detected the destruction of a star system that caused the supernova SN 2012Z. After the explosion, scientists determined that the remaining red dwarf from the star may continue to live as a kind of zombie star.

The supernova explosion was extremely weak. Even though this type of explosion would have done great damage to the star, it could have left behind a so-called 'zombie star'. The remaining stars after such explosions began to be called 'zombie stars'.

It has been observed that zombie stars also swallow the energy of other stars. According to this determination, the zombie stars were drawing high-energy X-rays towards themselves.

Space

12. Dark Flow

The observable universe is 90 billion light-years across. But the entire universe is thought to be 250 times larger than the observable universe.

In 2008, NASA detected strange and unexpected movements on distant galaxy islands. These movements sent galaxies in only one direction. Alexander Kashlinsky, the leader of the team that made the discovery, was unsure about the source of what was causing these strange movements. For this reason, Kashlinsky came up with the theory of invisible forces controlling the galaxies and called it the Dark Stream Theory.

There is no definitive information about whether the Dark Stream exists. In 2013, European Space Agency ESA's spacecraft Planck disproved the Dark Flow Theory.

But some of the scientists controlling the Planck spacecraft insisted that the data from Planck were inaccurate. In 2015, Kashlinsky and his team took the stage again with new evidence and presented what could be evidence of the Dark Stream's existence.

A definitive judgment has not yet been made about the accuracy of the Dark Flow Theory.
